“The level of disrespect Rwandans and Africans face daily is staggering. But we must ask ourselves: why do we tolerate it? What do we lack to reject it?
It’s as if we only do what’s right when we are told to. That mindset has to change. We are not here to serve others’ interests - we serve our people.
In today’s world, you choose your battles wisely. And these; our dignity, our responsibilities - are battles worth fighting.
We cannot remain the same Rwandans, the same Africans, we were 100 or even 50 years ago. We must evolve.” President Kagame | Swearing-in of Cabinet Members and Officials
Had a fruitful conversation with President of the EU Council António Costa @eucopresident, where we discussed the situation in DRC and agreed on the need for effective de-escalation and a resolution to the conflict that prioritizes political dialogue and ensures lasting peace.
We stressed the need for all parties associated with finding a solution to be responsible and level-headed, even with the complexity of the problem.
We also exchanged on the ongoing strong cooperation between the European Union and Rwanda across key sectors.
"What kind of mindset is that where people come to look after you, on everything, they even feel obligated to come and nurse you and babysit you. Then people start saying, this is our decade, this is our century. When was it not your century? When was it not your decade? If this is your decade, how do you want to show it? I want to go fast and far. Fellow Rwandans, and those who understand what we are talking about, let's go fast, and let's go until very far." President Kagame | #Umushyikirano2024
