One of the most important things to remember for anyone who is involved in raising children (parents, teachers, etc.).
Of course, it's really hard to remember in the moment, and kids rarely articulate it.
@yairmenchel To frame this a little differently - instead of "just remembering" to bring the book to school (which hasn't been working), your son took the initiative to find a more effective strategy. And he learned that from you. That's great!
Shout out to @peretzhochbaum, @adlerteacher, and @SimchaSchaum, some of our https://t.co/btusdcaJeW coaches that are making the magic happen in Jewish classrooms around the country!

How much do we love this!
Throwing back all the way to 1981!
That is Gush Alumnus, Sam Borodach '81 in The Gush Beit Midrash
and here is his son, Gush Shana Bet Talmid, Yosef Borodach today - standing in the same spot in 2020!

Of course, this is much easier said than done.
Still, having guiding principles that are clear helps us get better at following them as we gain experience. Even if we're not good at it at the beginning.
This is so important!
I'd add that even if they *are* mad at you, it's still crucial not to internalize it. Make sure to listen carefully to their pain, annoyance, frustration, etc. but not the personal attack that sometimes goes with it.
As a special education teacher in NYC's District 75, Maha Husein remembers to have 'Teflon skin': “It’s not that you can’t care—you do care—but if the students attack you verbally, you can’t internalize it. It may be because they’re mad at someone else.” https://t.co/5SPz177k2d
Shoutout to all the educators who view hallway duty, bus duty, lunch duty, and any other duty over the course of the day, as an opportunity to greet, speak with, and acknowledge students in a non-academic space.
There's so much opportunity during these moments. #edchat
