I created my own Mastodon instance. It’s not open for registrations right now, but this does mean my username has changed so I’m updating my pinned post accordingly. I’m now @[email protected]
@A1142463A There are a lot of very nice third-party apps for Mastodon. I've never even installed the official one.
It's controlled by individual server admins and mods. Don't like where you are? Move to a more moderated server. Getting a lot of spam from users on another instance? Block it.
@gungirlfwend Perhaps it’s just part of getting older, more self-confident, less reliant on validation from other people, and more skeptical of the societal narrative that we need someone to complete us.
@greengaybles For me, I've found that I was too focused on keeping up with specific conversations and not spending enough time figuring out who was important. If I think someone might be, I reach out, even if it's been years.
@greengaybles I recently reconnected with someone after six years of mostly silence, and at least three years of complete silence. That's the most extreme example that comes to mind, but there have been others.
@gungirlfwend So didn't know such a thing existed. But you also apparently know me too well. I still tell people about the time you quietly stalked my Reddit and took it upon yourself to describe the first picture you sent me.
@gungirlfwend Did you actually figure out a way to translate that, or was that just an educated guess? My reply translated to something like "Hey can you add descriptions to these? Thanks!"
If that was a guess, it was a good one. 🤗
@ADoseofBuckley I watch your song lists in the background a lot. I've seen this several times, and every time, I forget about Heat Wave, just as you said you do. I can't place it until you play it. It is truly the plain chips of music.
This is just a friendly reminder that if you for some reason still enjoy investing time, energy and sweet sweet personal data in this garbage platform, and you use VoiceOver, the Spring app still works for basic timeline browsing. No algorithm, no missing tweet text.
@Mendi_Tech I don't think you'll get banned. As far as I know this would cause problems with the spring developer, not you. There are others using it already, and if that ban were to happen, it would be automatic.
Was just informed that Spring still works for accessing Twitter on Apple devices. It's basically the same interface I use on Mastodon, and I have it configured with the exact same layout. It's quite a strange experience.
@macworld@DiannaWith2Ns “Apple Watch will speak helpful tips out loud, such as “Maybe don’t drink that,” “Have you considered going for a run?” and “Did you know that sleep is a thing people do?” Siri’s new human-sounding delivery is going to be vital in this not becoming madly annoying.”
