This is truly a great man. He has invested more in Ukraine than 185 countries combined.

Meet Howard Buffett, Warren Buffett’s middle son. He is 71 years old. He dropped out of college three times. He drinks Dr Pepper and looks for a McDonald’s wherever he travels.

Since the beginning of the war, his foundation has become the largest private donor to Ukraine: $1.4 billion.

Over four years, he has personally visited Ukraine 27 times.

In April 2022, he saw burned-out agricultural machinery and called the president of John Deere:

“How many combines are available in Europe?”

“Fifteen. All of them were supposed to go to Russia.”

“I’ll take them all.”

Then came all the available New Holland equipment in Europe. Altogether, more than 100 tractors and combines were provided to Ukrainian farmers.

He even tested demining equipment himself - on his own farm in Illinois, detonating explosives beneath rollers. When a Ukrainian deputy minister expressed doubts, Buffett told him:

“Stop counting my tractors. If necessary, I’ll blow up a thousand of them.”

Andriy Stavnitser initially asked him for $1 million for Superhumans. Buffett asked how much was needed to build the entire center.

“$14 million.”

“Okay. And what do you expect in return?”

“Nothing. Build it.”

Today, his support for Superhumans has reached $77 million, and the center has treated more than 1,700 patients.

But his largest area of spending is neither agricultural machinery nor prosthetics.

It is food: 642 million meals.

And that is only part of it:
* 344,000 windows replaced after Russian attacks;
* 9 bridges, 4 power plants, 2,500 generators, and 18 DNA laboratories;
* Much of Bucha rebuilt with his funding.

“I already have more friends in Ukraine than I do at home,” he says.

He celebrates birthdays in Ukraine, comes for Christmas, and even has a Ukrainian godson.

Friends, this is truly a great man - someone who understands that he cannot take all his money with him when he leaves this world.

I simply want to thank him and wish him well.

Whatever else one may say, this is real help from a person who had no personal obligation to Ukraine.

He simply chose to help.

Reform MS Sarah Cooper-Lesadd has defected to Plaid Cymru.

She has released an absolutely damning statement regarding Reform:

“Today I have left Reform UK and joined Plaid Cymru and its Senedd group.

“I grew up in the care system. I stood for the Senedd to be a voice for care-experienced people, who are still badly under-represented in our politics. I want to improve people’s lives, stand up for people who are overlooked and get things done. My approach is evidence-led and rooted in what works for our communities.

“Reform has no interest in the work I came here to do. They are not serious about governing Wales. They are far more interested in division, opposition and headlines than in finding solutions. There is a real appetite in the group to want the government to fail, and no interest in what that failure would mean for the people we represent.

“They oppose measures without any coherent explanation. I wanted to vote for the supplementary budget, which every party should have supported, and I argued against tabling the Nation of Sanctuary debate, and I was criticised for sitting it out. Having just spoken about my own childhood trauma, I could not in good conscience sit through it.

“I cannot support Reform's attacks on people seeking sanctuary or other vulnerable groups. I particularly reject the way minorities have too often been used as political targets. I do not believe anyone should be scapegoated or dehumanised to win votes, and I will not be part of a politics that does that.

“The party centrally has no interest in Wales. Their Senedd group is a staging post in the effort to get Nigel Farage into Downing Street, and that was glaringly obvious at its conference this week.

“To everyone who voted Reform in May: I have not stopped listening to you. You told me you felt ignored and let down. Those concerns are real, and they will be answered by delivery, not division.

“Wales is a small country with enormous potential. Devolution is how that potential is realised, with decisions made closer to the people they affect.

"I believe in a Wales that is confident, compassionate and ambitious. A Wales that uses the powers it has to improve people’s lives and seeks the powers it still needs.

"Plaid is serious about governing, serious about delivery and serious about Wales. It is a party that believes in our communities and believes Wales can do more when decisions are made closer to the people they affect.

“I know what I am asking of Plaid members who spent May campaigning against the party I stood for, and I will work to earn their trust.

“I came into politics to give people a voice, improve lives and get things done, including for every child growing up in care in Wales today. Plaid Cymru is the best place for me to do that, and I am ready to get to work."

Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works.

Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this."

That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door.

Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply.

Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.
