Enrico Donati's ‘Quetzacoatl’ (1964), refers to the Nahuatl name for the Feathered-Serpent deity of ancient Mesoamerican culture. Layering and texturing the work with sand, Donati has painted an abstracted interpretation of the plume from this symbol in muted earth tones.
