CFRE and Algoma University lead the International Consortium on Oil Research for Our Waters of the North, which was awarded $3.87 million under Canada’s Multi Partner Research Initiative to study fate, detection/monitoring, and ecological effects of oil in freshwater ecosystems.

Post 4 of 5: LSSU's 2023 Commencement today, 5/6/2023, at Taffy Abel Arena. 341 graduates moved their tassels for 315 bachelor’s degrees, 153 associate degrees, & 12 certificates! Professor of Psychology Dr. Kristina Olson-Pupek received the 2022-23 Distinguished Teaching Award.

When collecting aquatic insects, always check the occasional rock because you never know what you will find. Trichoptera, commonly known as caddisflies, will attach their cases to rocks. They typically live in benthic habitats and can handle low oxygen concentrations!

With the help of Dr. Moerke’s Aquatic Entomology class, we are able to introduce MACROINVERTEBRATE MONDAY. The class has been working hard this semester to identify macroinvertebrates in the EUP. Make sure to tune in on Mondays to see what the class has been identifying!
