@MartinSLewis Slight nuance here. If you have another pension then HMRC tax that and leave your £11,973 as part of your allowance untaxed. When it rises above £12,570 it too will be taxed. So a 5% pension increase will mean £1.65 will be taxed = 33p at 20%
