This is done to intimidate people and suppress free speech. I won't stand for it.

@MartynMellodew I thoroughly agree. My irritation hypothetically extends to all native UK languages however I have no capacity to understand those, and therefore it is the mispronunciation of Welsh that directly irritates me most. But this goes for all language in the UK and globally

Any other Welshies get annoyed at British TV Programmes/Quiz Shows not being able to pronounce phrases in the Welsh Language correctly on air when they crop up? Companies like the BBC MUST have Welsh speakers who can advise on this? Especially if they’re not live broadcasts…

@MrDLWarren My main point here wasn’t the speakership levels. Just the basic disrespect to not ensure it’s correct pronunciation when broadcast. If we are broadcasting programmes to all corners of the UK, we should be giving all UK languages the courtesy of being spoken accurately

@MrDLWarren I don’t deny the findings of your research. Most of south wales don’t speak it which is where a majority of the Welsh population lives, but the North is very very proud of its native tongue. There are Welsh speaking schools in the north where all classes are taught in Welsh

@MrDLWarren I would be inclined to disagree based on the experiences I have had in strong Welsh speaking communities. Regardless of its relatively low speakership, it is beyond disrespectful to not spend the time and very minimal effort to ensure presenters pronounce it correctly

Anyone else find the audacity of some companies recruiting in the arts to offer National Minimum Wage to full time 40 hour contracts absolutely disgusting?

Performers don’t invest tens of thousands in training in their craft to earn the absolute legal bare minimum. Do better.
