I am very pleased to share our last paper with Mickaël Ribardière, @drpaca and Pascal Barla : "A Fully-correlated Anisotropic Micrograin BSDF Model" (https://t.co/V4VaC5AKTH)
I can't wait to present it at @siggraph !
The main contribution of this work is ... [1/4]
By removing the Smith assumptions, our model differ significantly with previous works, especially at grazing angle and in retroreflection configuration. Here are some examples : [3/4]

By using the micrograins as a structural proxy for the microfacets framework, we derived the main functions of the microfacet theory. We found that our new normal distribution function extends the Trowbridge-Reitz (GGX) distribution to handle porosity. [4/5]
Here's a preview of the amazing submissions we received in the #HPG2022 Student Competition. Check out this page for tech details & shadertoy links for each solution: https://t.co/fOLrGdMZCv
We will announce winners tomorrow. Thanks to all the students who participated!
It was a pleasure to code with @xavierchermain Real-Time Geometric Glint Anti-Aliasing With Normal Map Filtering, accepted at @I3DCONF.

Playing with NDF transformations and NDF filtering through OpenGL functions was fun!
