Private vehicle trips could be reduced if facilities were located closer to where people live. Sprawling residential areas with little to no community facilities encourage people to drive.

@tim_michell @CarleeLouise91 @danielbowen MTM's current contract with the State is perhaps too easy for them to manipulate their performance targets and avoid penalties. Maybe the future contact should be written with more customer focused targets and current loop holes closed.

@tim_michell @danielbowen Medium-term could be to alter the layout of say two carriages per set to have longitudinal seating, which would result in more standing room and therefore greater overall passenger capacity.

@tim_michell @danielbowen A possible cheap(?), short-term improvement could be additional grab handles along the isles of carriages to make better use of the standing space and encourage people to stand away from the doors.
