The thing is, Ocarina's lack of detail contributed to the mysterious and forlorn atmosphere. The world was varied, colorful, confusing, but ultimately very big and very empty. Like our world.

The enduring theme was not time, but loneliness. The art of the era supported this.

It may also be that it had a great level of detail for an imaginative child to fill in the blanks.

One of the things you learn when you start photography is that people only want to be shown a little. They want to be suggested to a lot. Great works rely on suggestion.
