On BBC Breakfast this morning, Jon Kay read out the words of PC Andrew Harper’s mother, Debbie Adlam, to Labour’s Justice Secretary over the early release of her son’s killers.

She says she is “bitterly disappointed” that two of her son’s killers remain eligible for early release, and asked:

“What kind of society are we living in if these are the standards where the killers of a police officer can be released early?”

Justice Secretary Alex Norris replied:

“I understand why she’s so angry and we as a government share that anger… but we have to make this decision.”

No, Alex. You don’t share that anger, if you did, you wouldn’t be doing it.
And you don’t have to make this decision.

There are more than 10,000 foreign national offenders currently sitting in our overcrowded prisons. Start deporting them.

Anything less is a betrayal of every officer who puts their life on the line for the rest of us.

Why do already wealthy celebrities sell their souls for a few more quid advertising products that directly contradict what they have previously stood for or are supposed to represent. I was surprised to hear Stephen Graham advertising McDonalds in the radio when it seems to contradict some of his public stances. But undoubtedly the king of the hypocrites, the greediest of the lot must be super chef Gordon Ramsey. How can a ma who has built an entire empire on genuinely great food of the highest quality stoop to advertise both Burger King and poxy Uber Eats. What a joke, what a sell out, what a fraud!!!
