It bothers me how many @Raptors fans wanted to tank and now blame the team for "only" getting the 9th pick. Tanking isnt a winning formula - losing habits dont build success.

Progress comes in strange waves. It's not always logical or linear. It's never constant or predictable.

The Toronto Raptors are struggling right now. But they're struggling by design.

They're placing players into uncomfortable positions amidst suboptimal lineups to force development.

They don't want to see you do what you do well. They want to find out what you can't do well and then force you to do that.

Making Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett better decision makers... Making Scottie Barnes a more dangerous initiator and dynamic 3 level threat, making RJ and Gradey into more natural and comfortable wing defenders.

It's easier to mask the weaknesses. Hide RJ on defense. Force him to only find offense in transition, have Quickley just become a floater assassin with a pull up 3, making Scottie a roll-to-the rim guy who gets 85% of his offense inside 10 feet on dump offs and pocket passes from more refined initiators.

In the end, you reap what you sow. And the Raptors are sowing the seeds of development that will blossom in the years to come.

I'm gonna say this: Scotty is not an All-Star this year. And - that's totally fine! Do i believe he is an All-Star Caliber Player? Absolutely! But there are guys out there that deserve it way more than him this year. And as a @Raptors fan i'm absolutely okay with admitting that.
