A letter has been left pinned to my gate, we think it was left early this morning. It reads:
"FIRST POINT - Do not add this to the Twitter page you started yesterday, we saw that and we are taking legal advice.
SECOND POINT - We require and demand a full apology from you....
First British tourists of the summer season are here. Middle aged couple with a caravan that had a UKIP sticker in the window. Assumed I spoke English, asked for directions, I replied in French. The woman tutted, rolled her eyes and said,
"They don't even try to speak English"

@IrwellEdition@arrroberts I’ve thought for a while that it probably started as ‘a partridge, une perdix’ (given that the ‘e’ of ‘une’ could well be sounded in verse/song, like the ‘e’ in ‘patrie’ in the Marseillaise). Maybe makes more sense than ‘in a’?
I’m trying to understand the Cumbria coal mine thing. There are obviously ways of generating power without coal, but are there ways of making steel without coke?
