Toronto is one of the host cities for the World Cup and from what I've seen the vibes just aren't there. This is one of the most global and multicultural cities there is but everything is so overpriced and it just feels like this thing wasn't built for ordinary locals to enjoy.
So-called 15 minute trains are running at 30+ minute intervals because of “extreme heat”. It’s 25 degrees with humidity. This is going to be a fun month :)
FIFA World Cup 2026 is here.⚽
From June 10 to July 5, we are increasing GO Transit and UP Express service for fans travelling to and from matches at Toronto Stadium, with more frequent trips to Exhibition GO, 15-minute service on Lakeshore lines, and extended late-night trips.
In an email last Thursday, @LFairclo's team announced they have also raised the full $150K candidate fee. As always, I'll be paying attention to the membership, fundraising, and policy milestones of this race.
Great talking to The Star about Ontario’s $178M bailout of a private equity firm’s 1,700 unit rental project.
In exchange, 340 will be priced for mid-income renters for 40 years.
Thats’s $524k each.
Investing in non-profit ➡️ far more stable & affordable. But Ford knows that.
carter hart and brett howden are being given a chance to compete for the stanley cup and alexander zverev just won his first grand slam title at roland garros but I'm supposed to believe that allegations of assault against women ruins the careers/lives of men
Brad Bradford continues to campaign against things that *he* supported under Tory's mayoralty, before Chow stepped foot into office. This time its the world cup deal that Tory negotiated and signed. Brad happily supported Tory in this awful deal at the time.
brad has a rare form of amnesia that makes him forget over and over again that the mayor in 2022 was john tory and that he himself has been on city council all this time and was therefore involved in the decision to bring the world cup to toronto. some say there is no cure
This was some of the evidence left out of the Hockey Canada trial which would have corroborated some of EM’s testimony. Certainly more credible and reliable than Justice Carroccia thought, isn’t she?

“Committees still sit,” Premier Ford said this week, defending the record-long summer break at Queen's Park.
But PC MPPs are now trying to cancel all summer meetings of the committee that reviews government appointments, calling it "routine" scheduling: https://t.co/LrItfUDO5S
Since 2016, residents around Mimico GO have been hearing the same promise: accessibility upgrades are in the “design stage.” Ten years later, they are still hearing the same thing.
For people with mobility challenges, it is a decade of barriers, missed opportunities, and a transit station that remains inaccessible.
I will continue pressing for answers and accountability until the people who rely on Mimico GO have a station they can access safely, reliably and with dignity.

At Queen's Park, Tourism Minister Stan Cho yells that the Ontario Liberals had 15 years in government with "nothing to show for it but record debt."
In fact, Ontario's debt under the Ford government is set to cross half a trillion dollars next year under Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy
