When COVID struck, the entire world including medical colleges in India and abroad shifted to online learning. FMGs followed the rules that existed at the time. After 6 years, why are only they being singled out to “compensate”? This feels inconsistent and discriminatory.

We also need stability. Rules changing in short term create unbearable stress on students who are already giving their all to become doctors. FMGs only seek fairness and a consistent policy that treats every future doctor equally. #FairRulesForFMGs

In a shocking incident, Hamim, a 2nd-year MBBS student from Anantnag, Kashmir, studying at Al-Ameen Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka, was brutally ragged and assaulted by senior students from the 2019 batch. This is unacceptable!

The ordeal began when Hamim was humiliated, forced to perform acts for their amusement, and later attacked in his hostel room by a group of 6-8 seniors. He was beaten, threatened with dire consequences, and warned against playing cricket for the next four years.

This incident exposes the dangerous culture of ragging that continues to plague our institutions. Ragging is a crime, and those responsible must face strict legal action. No student should live in fear in an institution meant for learning and growth.

We urge Hon’ble CM of Karnataka @siddaramaiah Ji to take immediate cognizance of this incident, ensure the safety of students, and hold the perpetrators accountable. Justice must be served, and strict action must be taken to prevent such acts in the future. We call on the Karnataka Govt, college administration, and law enforcement to act swiftly. Expulsion & legal action against those responsible is the only way to send a strong message against ragging.

Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) from Jammu and Kashmir, who successfully passed their exams in June 2024, are facing a critical situation due to the lack of available seats in Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) throughout the state. The lack of proper management by the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) has left hundreds of students grappling with uncertainty.
Poor planning, is pushing students to the brink of losing another year.
