Why does the media keep calling them "anti-immigrant marches" when they're actually marches against illegal immigration? Those are not the same thing. Accurate reporting matters, and I'm disappointed that this distinction is so often ignored.

After the failed “repatriations”, every government should be asking itself some tough questions:

Why are our people choosing to risk their lives and live undocumented abroad?

What are we doing wrong?

How do we fix it?

The answers are, of course, already known to those governments.

But why improve conditions at home when it is far easier to fan the flames of fear and rally people around an external enemy deflecting from your own failures?

It is what it is, and will always be. Like sands through the hourglass… so go the Politics of Scapegoating.
