The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has noted with serious concern video footage and reports currently circulating on social media regarding an incident involving our officers and members of the public.

While the department has not yet received a formal complaint regarding this specific matter, an active investigation is officially underway through our Internal Affairs Unit using all available evidence currently at our disposal.

To ensure a thorough and complete investigation, we strongly encourage the complainants to come forward and provide formal statements to investigators.

As an organisation, the JMPD unequivocally condemns any abuse of power, misconduct, corruption, or unprofessional behavior that undermines public trust and damages the integrity of law enforcement.

Members of the public are encouraged to lodge formal complaints or report any officer misconduct directly to the JMPD Internal Affairs unit through the following channels:
