Could it be that almost no agent/publishing house operating today will even consider new male authors unless they tick some arbitrary diversity box?
Could it be that there are literally hundreds of programs, incentives, awards and scholarships aimed at promoting every single identity group in the publishing industry EXCEPT men?
What we're seeing here isn't just discrimination, it's the wholesale exclusion of an entire group people from an industry. Its the equivalent of breaking a man's legs right before a race, and laughing at him for coming last. And the best part? NOBODY FUCKING CARES, except the occasional braindead journalist writing a smug op-ed lamenting why men have abandoned writing as a pursuit.
They didn't. Writing abandoned them.
