50th at the 2024 World Championships with Gholdengo!
Took a tough last round loss to Quad Thorns to miss top 32, but happy nonetheless with the finish. Really love the 60 and got good value out of every inclusion. S/O to the Seattle testing group, proud of everyone’s finishes.
Top 128 @ Seattle regionals. I thought overall the venue was really great, plenty of space, bathrooms, and water refills, but rounds went a little long day 1. Definitely could’ve played better and got bailed out in some matches for sure. Probably Houston next.
Top 32 at Vegas regionals, lost the win and in to @abaantcg playing the same 60. Touched gardy for the first time ever Thursday so I’m pleasantly surprised at how well i did. No deck list pic needed, played the @hchao999 60, SO the gardy GOAT.
T8 @ NAIC 2025
Thank you to @TabletopVillage and all the villagers for the constant support. Shout-out to @LiamHalliburton, the Zoro goat, for always being down to yap about how to improve the list.
Top128 at the last event before worlds (no NAIC sadly). I had 2 rigid bands in, but chickened out at the last second and put in an iono, which i wish i hadn’t. Hit 5 Eevee box and 3 Bolts so the matchups weren’t what i was hoping for lol. +20 ~ 760/Top X
51st at Milwaukee regionals. Played DengoPult, i cut the Iono bc i feel it has anti-synergy with the playstyle, didn’t really miss it. I was playing pretty bad day 1 but improved a lot by the end of the tournament. With this I’m at 740 CP, feels like a good position for top 125.
@alexdeegreat1 It’s better into pult, it makes it so you only need 6 energies to one shot. It’s worse into gardy, but good gardys can play around punch anyways
@AuraSnipez I was worried about matchups that you played a high amount of Turos (gardy, control, etc). I hit a lot of those matchups so it ended up being great.
Top 16 at Vancouver regionals! Had a blast playing against all my opponents and played some real hard fought sets throughout the tournament. The card i used the least was tomb, but i didn’t hit any Lugia, so likely variance.
@Davis09569183 I think it’s fine? The game plan into gardy isn’t really to punish them early, and i don’t think gardy wants to aggressively take a single prizer
7-2-4 at San Antonio, i took a break after Toronto so didn’t put time into anything so just ran it back with The Pile. Probably could’ve avoided some of my ties, but i hit too many nice people so i ended up talking with them too much lol. Looking forward to innovating next format
@fantasytimenow I haven’t tested much of the new format yet, but initial impressions is that budew would be awkward to fit in. Energy/energy attachments are premium in the deck, so pivoting into a budew early seems difficult. Going into new format pult and Lugia become much worse matchups
@Davis09569183 Gardy can be tricky, but you want to primarily use zard to attack and keep a froakie with a water attached ready on the bench. If they go in with a big charm play you can vac and take a big swing turn. 2nd mander also really helps
Toronto Regional Champion!
This one meant the most to me, and that's why I got so emotional toward the end. My grandmother was diagnosed with glioblastoma and passed away last week. I even contemplated skipping this event altogether, but I told myself I would win in her memory.
@T5Stout @DrueTownsend Normally you want to get out pidgey plus froakie, and then use rotom. Almost every turn one you want to instant charge, it helps the setup and puts down a seal stone target
@DefNotSt0rmy@DrueTownsend Definitely, part of what makes zard bad into drago is that they always have an easy one shot into you with ogrepon, greninja always will live a turn unless they setup pult damage b4
Presenting, Cobi Pile! Had a lackluster day 2 but finished 8-4, I’m glad i got to showcase the deck. I’ve been working on this list regularly for the last 2 months. This deck is pretty difficult to play but i hope people give it a try. S/O @DrueTownsend for playing the 60 w/ me.
