From one of our lovely followers... We are constantly amazed at the stories told to us by those who looked for a sepsis charity in Ireland at their time of loss but couldn’t find one, and we are constantly inspired by them to keep going 🤍✨
@suzywoozy13 @SepsisUK @IlikaCopeland Thank goodness you had awareness/ knowledge to advocate for yourself, because if you had got to the point of not being able to communicate, that is such a frightening thought. I have no medical background, but knew I felt "different" something serious was happening, but ignored.
@SepsisUK 3/3 on reading my medical notes months later at home, the nurses at first hospital had recorded I had eaten a sandwich, soup and coffee for lunch in CDU, when I had actually tried a sip of water, and most still came out of my nose, a fraction was only swallowed due IV steroids
@SepsisUK I was sent home twice, as non urgent, even though when I tried to drink water, it came back out of my nose. Gp had sent me immediately to A+E concerns for airways, 2 visits then bumped to another hospital (as a time waster) a month in Icu, ventilation, coma, respiratory failure
@SepsisUK This 2nd hospital was fantastic. 1st hospital Dr told me to have a drink to help me stop choking on 2nd visit. When my partner said, she hasn't been able to swallow for 3 days (9 hours this time sat in CDU, no drip, no examination) they decided to quickly put me on a drip 2/3
'We need to ask #coulditbesepsis? There is no specific test for #sepsis; it is being aware of the clinical signs and symptoms which can be atypical and subtle"
Prof Simon Finfer says raising awareness on #sepsis among clinicians & health workers is critical to #bettercare.

@muddybadger42@Peston@BorisJohnson Though not all people living in council properties are claiming benefits, and could possibly get a mortgage (before)
Some tenants do work hard 😃😊 But not enough new council homes have verb built to replace the ones sold through right to buy scheme.
