Executed by Tangkhul-led terrorist factions of the NSCN (Muivah) and ZUF-K, this naked act of aggression is a catastrophic escalation that demands immediate national intervention. This armed aggression is a cold, calculated campaign of strategic displacement and psychological warfare. Taking opportunistic advantage of the systemic volatility gripping Manipur since May 3, 2023, these Tangkhul-led terrorist groups are actively engaging in violent land grabs and demographic engineering to advance their expansionist "Greater Nagalim" agenda. The total devastation of these Kuki-Zo villages exposes a fatal breakdown of the state’s primary duty: the protection of its citizens. The continued, systemic failure of the government to shield our frontier villages from heavily armed, sophisticated terrorist operations has crossed the line from institutional ineptitude into a grave internal security crisis. The continuing aggression and atrocities prove beyond any shred of doubt that the Kuki-Zo people can no longer coexist under an administration that cannot, or will not, guarantee their right to life. The demand for a Separate Administration with a Union Territory under the Indian Constitution is no longer a negotiable political stance but an existential imperative. It is the only mechanism left to ensure the physical survival, security, and dignity of our people. Lamka, July 15, 2026: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), has issued a press statement strongly condemning what it describes as a coordinated attack, arson, and destruction of Teikhang and Lenglong villages in Manipur's Noney District on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the statement, the attacks allegedly took place at around 2:00 PM and were carried out by Tangkhul-led factions of NSCN (Muivah) and ZUF-K. KIM characterized the incident as a serious escalation of violence and called for immediate intervention by the Central Government.

The organization alleged that the attacks form part of a broader campaign of violence and displacement amid the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur. It further claimed that the destruction of the villages reflects a failure to ensure the safety and security of affected communities.

Photographs shared alongside the statement show plumes of smoke rising from a hilltop area, which KIM says are from the affected villages. The images have not been independently verified.

KIM reiterated its long-standing demand for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with a Legislature for the Kuki-Zo people, arguing that such a political arrangement is necessary to ensure their security and constitutional rights.

The organization also urged the Government of India to launch a decisive security response against the groups it holds responsible and appealed to national and international media to closely monitor developments in the region.

Authorities had not immediately issued an official response regarding the allegations at the time of writing.

The 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 in Manipur against the 𝗞𝘂𝗸𝗶 community since 𝟯 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 was escalated by a false narrative alleging that Meitei women had been raped by 𝗞𝘂𝗸𝗶s in Churachandpur. The False allegation was spread by 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 and amplified by the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗶 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

In short, more than 250 Kukis lost their lives following the spread of this false allegation.

Despite these false allegations, no arrests have been made. This has raised serious concerns among many about accountability, equal enforcement of the law, and public trust in the justice system in Manipur.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses its strongest possible condemnation and profound outrage over the barbaric and cowardly attack carried out this evening against the peaceful residents of Thingkhongjang Village under K. Geljang Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District. The attack was perpetrated by armed cadres of the NSCN-Muivah and its proxy faction, ZUF-Kamson. Several civilian homes were deliberately set ablaze, while indiscriminate firing left an innocent woman and a young child seriously injured. The deliberate targeting of an unarmed civilian settlement is nothing less than an act of terror against innocent people and represents a grave assault on human dignity and the rule of law.
This incident raises deeply disturbing questions regarding the conduct and effectiveness of the security forces deployed in the area. The attack occurred despite the presence of the 86th Battalion, F Coy stationed in the vicinity. It is beyond comprehension that heavily armed militants could infiltrate the area, unleash violence upon civilians, torch homes, injure women and children, and withdraw without decisive intervention. Such a monumental security failure cannot be dismissed as a routine lapse. It warrants the highest level of scrutiny and accountability.
The Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi District have, on numerous occasions, publicly assured the people that the security of every village within the district rests under their responsibility. A Memorandum of Understanding was also made with the Government of Manipur that the security and safety of innocent villagers and villages within Kangpokpi District would be the responsibility of the District Police, and that Kuki-Zo volunteers need not guard their villages. Those assurances now stand shattered. The people have every right to ask how such a heinous attack could take place under the very administration entrusted with safeguarding civilian lives.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur unequivocally demands immediate accountability from all officers whose negligence or failure of command contributed to this incident, pending the completion of an independent judicial inquiry. The people deserve a transparent, impartial, and time-bound investigation capable of establishing the full facts, identifying every individual responsible for operational failures, and ensuring that appropriate legal and disciplinary action follows without delay.
The Government of India and the Government of Manipur must understand that the continued failure to protect innocent civilians gravely undermines public confidence in the institutions of the State. Repeated assurances are meaningless if they are not matched by decisive action on the ground. Every instance of inaction only deepens public distrust and emboldens those who seek to terrorise defenceless communities.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur makes it unequivocally clear that the people will no longer accept empty promises, administrative silence, or delayed responses while innocent families continue to suffer. Justice delayed is justice denied. Those entrusted with the constitutional duty to protect the lives and properties of citizens must either fulfil that responsibility or be held fully accountable before the law and before the people.

NSCN-IM Acts Like a Women’s Militant Organisation, Targets Only Civilians for 33 Years

For 33 years, from 1993 to 2026, the NSCN-IM has attacked Kuki villages, killing over 1,100 people. More than 1,000 were civilians — children, pregnant women, and elders. They avoid armed groups and strike defenseless villages, churches, and homes at night, then vanish into the jungle. The July 5 attack on Thingkhongjang church repeated this pattern of fear and bloodshed. The cruelty mirrors ISIS: rape, beheading, torture, and burning.

Backed by a Government of India ceasefire, no NSCN-IM member has been arrested. A ceasefire that shields killers is not peace. Appeal to the USA, UNO, and UN Human Rights to intervene now. The killing of Kuki civilians must end.

Kangpokpi, July 3, 2026: The Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur–Kuki Hills (COPTAM-KH) has strongly condemned the repeated attacks on K. Songlung (Machet) Village in Kangchup Geljang Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District, and urged the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to take immediate action against those allegedly responsible.

COPTAM-KH alleged that armed cadres of the Liangmai-led Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson faction) attacked and set fire to K. Songlung Village at around 12:15 p.m. on January 26, 2026. The organization claimed that seven houses and two four-wheeler vehicles were destroyed, while villagers were allegedly blindfolded, deprived of their mobile phones, and cut off from communication. It further alleged that the attackers operated from militant hideouts located in Makhan, Konsakhul (Konsaram), Ireng Naga, Namdilong, and Khulkhul.

The committee also recalled an earlier attack on June 5, 2023, when it alleged that 44 houses in the main K. Songlung Village were burned down. The press release attributed the incident to members of Meitei armed groups, including Arambai Tenggol, Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs), and the Liangmai-led Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson faction). It also alleged the involvement or acquiescence of certain state security personnel and members of the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee.

COPTAM-KH further stated that the village had previously been attacked during the 1993 Kacha Naga-Kuki conflict, alleging that cadres of NSCN (IM) burned down the village and killed several residents. The organization said the repeated attacks over more than three decades have caused displacement, insecurity, and hardship for the villagers.

In its statement, COPTAM-KH called for a prompt, impartial, independent, and comprehensive investigation into the alleged attacks. It also demanded the identification and dismantling of the alleged militant hideouts, the arrest and prosecution of those responsible, permanent security arrangements for K. Songlung Village and other vulnerable tribal villages, and adequate relief, rehabilitation, and compensation for the affected families.

The committee reiterated that the safety, security, and constitutional rights of the tribal inhabitants of K. Songlung Village must be protected and that those responsible for the alleged acts of violence should be brought to justice through due process of law.
