🚨 BREAKING: Labour Government introduces more refugee routes in document published today. It will allow universities and charities to sponsor migrants.

• The Home Office has released policy guidance for three new refugee sponsorship routes: named community sponsorship, refugee study and refugee work.

• The routes allow community groups, universities and employers to identify and sponsor specific refugees, operating through accredited lead sponsors from the voluntary and community sector. They run alongside the existing UK Resettlement Scheme.

• Eligibility requires UNHCR verification as a refugee (or an alternative Home Office process for certain Palestinian refugees), presence outside the country of origin, a valid sponsorship arrangement, and successful identity, security and suitability checks.

• Sponsors must provide accommodation and "integration support". Refugees receive an initial five-year period of leave on arrival, with a pathway to settlement.
