@MonicaEisenberg No. Across the whole country, very few Zambians are actually party members or loyal. We cross vote for individuals we think will deliver.

This is one reason why you can't use a Western lens on African elections. We are not voting on ideology.

If tribalism was a factor, the West would have voted for the last govmnt when their own was Vice President but it's simpler for "analysts" to dish out labels
