Maomao is a loli. It’s literally written in the plot, she poisoned herself to make herself more plain, less desirable, and not perceived sexually.
And the ML develops admiration for her mind and only develops further feelings when she intentionally makes herself older/pretty.

This is partly why I can't take discourse on "how old this character looks" seriously, because everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has a different opinion on it.

I've seen people strongly deny that Maomao is a loli, but at the same time other people be saying she looks like she's 12. So which one is it? And is Rukia REALLY that different?
