This is why I cringe a bit when asked what made the peace process a success in N. Ireland. Certain measures quelled #violence, but reinforced rather than undermined the authority of paramilitaries within communities IMO & here we are... hoping for peace🤞 https://t.co/PtinPpoxpg
I worked at Burger King - dish washer, burger & fry maker, cashier, & drive thru; then babysitter, telemarketer, lifeguard, swim instructor, tutor... all of these jobs were difficult, taught me valuable lessons & shaped who I am today. No one should be ashamed of hard work!
I am so excited and humbled to take on this role at UN EMRIP and follow in the footsteps of my North American predecessors, Grand Chief Wilton Littlechild and Dr. Kristen Carpenter. So many global challenges persist in Indigenous human rights implementation and much work to do.
Mr. Patrick is an Army and family legend. My father was his CO in Korea, and he was the Sgt Maj of Gunnery when I was a young officer in training (ie he was the supreme authority). And one of his sons served Canada alongside me. A life very well lived, a soldier to the end.
@marybethaltier This *could* be the exception to the maxim that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Anyway, your supersmart scholarship scares Nazis!
A little bit of personal news (as they say...) The grown ups at KCL have just made me Reader in International Relations. It's been a fun and blisteringly fast decade in HE, and it's still the best job in town.
