I saw Huey Lewis and the news in 1986 on the fore tour, at the height of their popularity, and paid $16 per ticket. Even with 500% inflation since then, it would not equate to the price of Springsteen tickets today.@siriusxmvolume
Tickets that my wife and I purchase today to see Bruce in Orlando were For our 10th anniversary. We didn’t have much money to celebrate, but honestly could’ve had a really nice trip if we had sold our tickets. Mine are not for sale, however. @siriusxmvolume
I paid $775 today for 2 tix to see Bruce today in Orlando and thought that was insane. I know that he plays for a long time, but that was pushing it for me. @siriusxmvolume
Gotta go with Sting’s Moon Over Bourbon Street from the Dream of the Blue Turtles album. Second place is R.E.M.’s Man On The Moon, even though it’s about Andy Kauffman. @siriusxmvolume
Going with a TX theme today. No 2 is Terry Allen’s Amarillo Highway, popularized by Robert Earl Keen. No 1 none other than LA Freeway by Guy Clark. Jerry Jeff’s version is the most famous but Rodney Crowell did a great version on the tribute Guy Clark album @siriusxmvolume
Knopfler played on a track from Clapton‘s tribute to JJ Cale, several years ago, and it was one of the best songs on the album. Still waiting for more of that magic.@siriusxmvolume
I’m still waiting for an Eric Clapton/Mark Knopfler collaboration. Two amazing guitarists who would play really well together. If you ever seen a bootleg concert of Clapton’s from the late 80s in which Knopfler toured with him. It’s amazing. @siriusxmvolume
I’m still trying to figure out how in the world losing my religion made it into the top five. It’s a great song and I love it, but it has absolutely nothing to do with religion. 😁 @siriusxmvolume
Im probably dating myself but have to go with DC Talk’s Jesus Freak and Jars Of Clay’s Faith Like A Child, two songs that were huge at boosting contemporary Christian music in the 90s, when I was a teenager. @siriusxmvolume
20 years ago or so me and some buddies of mine did sound for vanilla ice at a club in West Texas. He really impressed us because he came out and did his own sound check. He put on a great show but then skipped town without paying the check. Punk. @siriusxmvolume
Did you guys issue an edict that prohibits us from voting for The Beach Boys today? I can’t Believe these guys arent getting votes today. Crazy. @siriusxmvolume
In honor of Brian Wilson’s 82nd birthday, yesterday, I have to go with All Summer Long and Keep An Eye On Summer (from the Summer Days and Summer Nights LP), both by The Beach Boys. They wrote the original summer soundtrack. @siriusxmvolume
Wish I could stay and listen to the whole show today guys. My no 2 would be Paradise by John Prine. it’s still a great song. But my number 1 is Judy Collins song, My Father. It’s still one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever @siriusxmvolume
My first lesson in love as a teenager was probably best represented by Tom Petty’ Only a Broken Heart from Wildflowers. Call Rosanne I still get those same feelings every time I hear that song, some 25+ years later. @siriusxmvolume
Going with Dire Straits for my number one today. Brothers In Arms (vinyl version) has permanent residence on my iPhone. Number two (and it’s close) is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Both bands have albums that transcend time. @siriusxmvolume
Gotta go with Hank Williams’ Mind Your Own Business for number one. Number two is Tom Petty’s Mind With A Heart Of It’s Own from Full Moon Fever. Of course, Tom sang a verse on the former during a great cover that Bocephus did. @siriusxmvolume
The video for Dire Straits’ “Brothers In Arms “ was very powerful for me. Amazing song. I can’t imagine better imagery than what they used. @siriusxmvolume
