The Simon Fraser University from Canada has been crowned 2026 World Pipe Band Champions.

211 bands from around the world competed at the event over the weekend where thousands of talented performers travelled to Glasgow Green , Scotland representing 14 countries.

It's the first time since 2010 that a band from outside the UK has won the World Championship.

This is still one of the more unusual small statues ever found in a Native American mound: The Chester, Illinois Statuette. It was found in 1886 in a demolished burial mound at the mouth of the Kaskashia River. The mound was destroyed when the site was leveled for a new Southern Illinois Penitentiary. It is 4.5 inches tall and is likely in a private collection.

Their victorious qualifying match with Denmark was one of the MOST INCREDIBLE games of football I have EVER seen – with two of the most SPECTACULAR stoppage time goals ever from Scotland!

So how will they fare in the 1st round of the World Cup?

BRAZIL will be a mighty challenge.

MOROCCO are one of the strongest teams on the planet.

And,of course, HAITI will be desperate to make their own mark.

But NEVER, NEVER underestimate the power of Scottish passion!

Yes, anything can happen in football, & I'm not a prophet or a miracle worker, BUT if any team can produce miracles, it's Scotland!

My message to the team – and to every Scottish fan is:

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

FIGHT WITH THE HEART OF WILLIAM WALLACE!

&

PLAY WITH THE COURAGE OF ROBERT THE BRUCE!

I've often thought: if ALIENS wanted to DISCLOSE themselves to humanity they might choose a time when BILLIONS of people are watching a live televised event.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from the position of Special Envoy on Preserving Holocaust Remembrance and Combatting Antisemitism. A position that I loved dearly but brought forth so many challenges, some deep disappointments, but in the end, some real achievements which I know will sustain the Jewish community and Canada in years to come.

We as Canadians have created a wonderful, diverse, and inclusive society that is a model to the world. In my assignments as Canadian Ambassador, I was always so proud to represent “Canada the Good”, my tagline for my country. We have always been determined and open in our struggle for a just, kind, and compassionate Canada for all. What remains important is the struggle. It is in the struggle that we continue to renew our commitment to humanity. There can be no question that the last two years has been a struggle. I leave with confidence that the Special Envoy’s office, with the support of the Federal Government, has taken on the fight against antisemitism with a vigor and passion not seen in many other countries.

Whether it was the Government of Canada’s Handbook on the IHRA working definition of antisemitism, the forum on law enforcement and antisemitism, the K-12 report on antisemitism in schools, constant exchanges with university, business and faith leaders, the numerous engagements with community, the briefings with the media, the work within government and the public service to ensure a deeper understanding of how antisemitism manifests in the workplace, even in policy and programming - all of this and more got us to a better place. With this work, we were also able to re-establish Canada’s commitment to inclusivity on the global stage and counter the negative imagery of Canada’s struggle with antisemitism that followed October 2023.

In the end, the fight against antisemitism is a fight for a better Canada. We as Canadians need to double down our efforts, most particularly in the areas of seamless cooperation amongst the three levels of government to combat hate. But it is clear that this effort is about more than government. This is about business leaders, faith leaders, education leaders, actively demonstrating courageous leadership to bring us together bound in our Canadian values.

Support to one community, should never mean or be interpreted as minimizing another community. Our value of inclusivity has at its core our ability to hold the concerns of multiple communities, in our hearts and minds. It was troubling in the last few years to see our lack of patience, lack of tolerance, and inability to reach out across the gulf to one another.

I know we are better than this, and although I leave the position of Special Envoy, I will continue with the mission that I know we all share - for a united, compassionate, and inclusive Canada.
