@edighafrancisca I think the biggest takeaway is how similar these types of deities are to more anthroform (humanlike) deities. The same mental mechanisms and templates that produce all god concepts are at work with these types of deities.
@SusannePetruss2 I was inspired to look toward cognitive science for answers because I was discontent with approaches that overemphasized the difference between anthropomorphic and nonanthropomorphic conceptions of deity and attributed them to differences in cognition.
I'm so saddened by the loss of our colleague, Don Redford. I had the privilege of sitting in on his Egyptian language courses last year. He was an amazing teacher and friend, as well as an incredibly prolific scholar.
The CAMS Department mourns the loss of our colleague, Don Redford, a titan of Egyptology and a mentor to generations of students. His accomplishments as a scholar were unmatched, and it was our honor to be his co-workers. Our hearts go out to his family. Rest in peace, Don.
