this is not what happened. The 1951 Seventeen Point Agreement was signed by Tibetan delegates under severe duress. Facing the threat of continued military action and full-scale invasion, the delegates were forced to sign using seals manufactured and provided by Beijing, without being permitted to communicate back to the Tibetan government in Lhasa.
