This is Advocate Matthew Chaskalson SC's dad, the late former Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa from 2001-2005. He died in December 2012.

He was an anti apartheid Human Rights lawyer who formed part of the defence team that represented ANC MK activists during the Rivonia Trial of 1963, Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki, Walter Sisulu and others, who were sentenced to life imprisonment.

I would like to believe that Matthew is dealing with the people accused of corruption at #MadlangaCommission so decisively and with conviction, in honor of those who sacrificed their lives for this country and in memory of his father.

We see your work Advocate. We get upset when you appear too soft and lenient, but excited and inspired when you tighten the grip. 😅 We are behind you all the way as the law abiding citizens of this country and we Thank You for your leadership and hard work as Chief Evidence Leader.
