First Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. Second Boer War Veteran. Member of Parliament. Successor to Lord Carson. Proud Orangeman. Enemy of republicanism.
A great move by @ArleneFosterUK. There needs to be more pro-Union activism in Northern Ireland outside of the political parties which many feel they can't engage in despite being "small 'u' unionists". Wishing Dame Foster the very best in her efforts.

It most certainly isn't representative. All the bandsmen and Orangemen I spoke to yesterday were as disgusted as anyone else. This callous bigotry has no place in the PUL community. #MichaelaMcAreavey
That song is fuelled by sectarianism against Michaela's Catholic family. It isn’t in any way representative of Ulster Protestant feeling. It emanates from the knuckle-dragging outliers of loyalism – male, misogynist, callous – and is in no way mainstream https://t.co/t9BrlU5fl8
A very Happy Platinum Jubilee to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 70 years of dedicated service to the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth merits this wonderful weekend of festivities and community spirit. God Save The Queen! #Jubilee#QueenElizabeth
@naomi_long@Bananaman9898 A bunch of drunken louts can be intimidating. You're right that in an ideal world someone would step in, but these were drunken young men and would have been difficult to confront. The whole thing is terribly sad and I look forward to GOLI taking action.
Absolutely appalled by the sickening video doing the rounds today about the tragic death of Michaela McAreavey. Those involved are not representative of anybody and are the type of sectarian cancer that needs rooted out in Ulster. God love the families today. #NotInMyName
@Sal_feeko Good for you. A shame your selfishness obliterates the reality of 100s of Northern Ireland businesses struggling to cope with the regulatory madness of the Protocol, all the same.
@BrianCno Which is why it should never have been imposed on Northern Ireland without consulting Stormont. Cross community consent goes beyond legislation. The spirit of the GFA has been ripped to shreds and, concerningly, no-one seems to care.
@BrianCno You don't seem to understand cross community consent. The Protocol does not have this and, as such, is in breach of the Good Friday Agreement.
@timmckane You are not thinking this through. The NI is a clear breach of the cross community consent enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement. Any Brexit deal that threatens this core principle is contrary to what unionists and nationalists agreed together in 1998.
The Northern Ireland Protocol was foisted upon the people of Northern Ireland in clear breach of the Good Friday Agreement that has engendered relative peace here. The DUP has every right to stand against this toxic arrangement. #NIProtocol
After an election which was dominated by the cost of living crisis, health service we are now told by DUP that none of us can do our jobs because they want to punish people of NI because of an issue that can only be solved by UKG&EU? No I don't get it either & its reprehensible.
A devastating yet sublime analysis of Ireland's most anachronistic and authoritarian political party. It is important that commentators and observers continue to recognise the ongoing outrageous ideology and behaviour of Sinn Féin and the shadowy figures involved.
Sport has been a major way for many people to cope during this year's lockdown, and with all the proper measures in place it is great to see fans returning to the grounds. Also, some of the biggest football fans I know are women so the accusation of sexism is outdated and unfair.
@Wilson_1798 @NotThatBigIan@cjhumanrights Systemic state collusion is an Irish republican conspiracy theory but the isolated instances of ill discipline and violence against innocent people were certainly wrong. As was the violence of loyalist paramilitaries against innocent people.
This is extremely encouraging news. We are a long way from overcoming the coronavirus crisis but the sooner we can protect the most vulnerable in society the better. It will ease pressure on the NHS and reduce the number of deaths.
