I truly value the recognition from our interns; it feels like a significant moment in our shared journey. But let’s be clear, this isn’t a moment to celebrate our arrival; it’s more like a bright orange light, nudging us to commit even more deeply.
If the @MOH_Kenya, @KmpdcOfficial and @HonAdenDuale will not facilitate the balloting of intern doctors within the 3 weeks they promised,a process that requires no budget and takes only minutes, then we will be right to say that our health is still in the wrong hands.
Hey @KmpdcOfficial, how is a simple balloting exercise turning into such a challenge? It’s a matter of minutes, yet a full council can’t get it done. Unreal!
Uzembe kazini.
These headlines don’t exaggerate. They reflect the brutal, dehumanizing conditions under which over 1000 medical registrars and interns in Kenya are being forced to work. These are not just words—they’re lived realities.
Many of these young doctors sleep on benches, skip meals, and suffer in silence. Their mental health is in crisis. We have lost colleagues—brilliant, young medics—to suicide because of this unbearable pressure, exhaustion, and neglect. What they face is not training; it’s state-sponsored suffering.
How can a government that depends so heavily on doctors justify this injustice? What kind of system demands everything from its health workers and gives them nothing in return?
KMPDU stands firm:
Every registrar and intern and all doctor must be treated with dignity.
Every intern, registrar must be paid.
Every healthcare worker deserves dignity, support, and respect.
We will not be silent while the future of our profession is reduced to begging.
We will not normalize exploitation.
We will fight—and continue fighting—because the health of this nation depends on it.
To our brave interns and registrars: we see you, we stand with you.
To the Kenyan public: stand with us.
To the government: act now.
The Union Makes Us Strong.
@citizentvkenya I think our good religious leaders will soon be conducting deliveries, caesarean sections and surgeries to help NABII RAIS. Congratulations to them.
