The plan to launch this week a health facility in Kenya for Americans who may have been exposed to the Ebola virus has received widespread criticism – from both Kenyan doctors and US officials working at the CDC. https://t.co/IDEz0TVeEN
The JW Marriott, which hosted presidents and heads of state during the African Forward Assembly in Nairobi, stands alongside four luxury high-rise residential towers and the Villa Rosa Kempinski. In an area smaller than a football field, investors have poured in several billion shillings. Yet this prime zone is still neglected by a government that proudly brands itself as “investor-friendly.”
This reality genuinely infuriates me. Investors continue to bet on Kenya despite our laziness, poor planning, and chronic lack of vision. That single cluster alone has created thousands of jobs, directly putting food on the tables of countless Kenyan families.
Instead of aggressively supporting such high-impact investment zones with world-class roads, proper drainage, pedestrian walkways, street lighting, and modern public infrastructure, we waste billions on village stadiums that fall into disrepair within two years and airstrips that only see aircraft during ceremonial launches.
It’s time we decide: are we genuinely serious about development, or are we simply addicted to political optics? True economic growth demands that we invest where returns are multiplied — in jobs, productivity, sustained investment, and long-term national value.

Kenyans invented running™
Kenyan flags now wrap more coffins than celebrations.
Not from war abroad, but from bullets at home.
Not heroes fallen in battle, but citizens silenced by the very guns that promised to protect them.
This isn’t patriotism. It’s betrayal. 🇰🇪
