In the name of Allah SWT, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. I am pleased to announce the Phase I of our Tonye Cole Scholarship Fund for some students of Yakubu Gowon University, formerly known as University of Abuja. I made the pledge to do this after participating and interacting with some students at the Future Leaders Forum, organised by His Excellency, Mr. Tonye Cole in order to inspire, engage and mentor the students that attended the event. Yesterday, I released the sum of 2.5 million to an ad hoc committee that I setup to see the process through. The committee is made up of some of my aides as well students from the Student Union Group (SUG) of the institution. In his kindness, the Convener and Keynote Speaker, Mr. Tonye Cole had agreed to match our pledge during the event. That sum will be utilised for the Phase II of this fund. The Univeristy of Abuja is the latest educational institution we have worked with. Mr. Tonye Cole also becomes the first Nigerian from the Southern part of the country that we have named a scholarship initiative after. Finally, this is also the first scholarship initiative where most of the beneficiaries are not expected to be students from Kaduna North Federal Constituency. As expected, the ad hoc committee will engage the management of the school throughout the process.
