As we concluded African Energy Week and move towards COP28, there is a need for broader consultation to build consensus on the energy transition. We are not against the energy transition, but what we need is a just, fair, equitable, and inclusive energy transition. One that takes into account our national developmental goals and prioritizes humanity across the globe, with a particular focus on the African continent.

Our message is that we will be heading to COP-27 which will take place in Sham el Sheikh in Egypt next month. I urge all African leaders to stand up to protect our production because if we don't, the vulnerable populations in rural areas who have no access to energy will suffer.
