A friend got a new job. Better title, 40% more pay, closer to home.
She gave 4 weeks notice because she wanted to leave properly.
Her manager smiled, shook her hand, and said they were proud of her.
Then HR called her in on day 3 of her notice period and said:
Someone in my complex got arrested today in connection with madlanga commission and someone in the group said "now the cars make sense"😭😭😭
Our hate is long term
Firstly, corporate South Africa doesn’t take Bafana Bafana seriously. During a World Cup season that only comes every 4 years, Sandton is still full of formal wear… no Bafana shirts, no scarves, no regalia. Nothing💔
I played rugby, went to a proper rugby school, and we never even watched soccer🥲. Yet during rugby tournaments, schools we put up big screens literally everywhere and had our T shirts as and when we wanted😭😂
Please, let’s take Bafana seriously. Every Friday, companies should push people to wear Bafana Bafana jerseys and rally behind the country🙏
Dear Corporate South Africa
We really truly & honestly cannot afford to drive to your overpriced offices daily to sit on Teams all day on laptops we brought from home.
Nothing else from my side. And I know you can see my screen.
Sincerely,
South Africans
@Dearme2_ Most managers got position through timing, politics, or tenure... not superior skill.
They're gatekeepers protecting their spot, not mentors.
This realization should push you to either take their role or leave and build your own thing where you control hierarchy.
In Cape Town. A tourist tells me I’m “disturbing” for speaking on the phone. I told her I’m South Africa and Im in my country. If you’re uncomfortable, go back to Europe. The nerve. 🇿🇦
