For all the people who say "what could Canada have done, we have no options but to unite and retaliate!"

Here's just a few things we could've done:

10 years ago: diversify the economy, permit more drilling, build more pipelines so we don't export 80% of our oil to the US, build allies, don't be the worst performing G7 economy since 2015.

1 year ago: Instead of antagonizing candidate Trump every chance, keep our opinions out of the US election so as to not poison the relationship with the President of the most powerful country on Earth before it even began

2 months ago: Announce a strict crackdown on fentanyl and the border (they still haven't done this!). Make it an absolute priority and promise to work with them. Even if you think it's an excuse, take it away from them!

30 days ago: Keep parliament open instead of proroguing it and shutting down our democracy right before the largest economic crisis in our country's history.

Today: Don't slap retaliatory tariffs with no plan other than harming all Canadians to look "strong".

I thought of all of this in the last hour. Imagine if we had experts and our government working on this for the past year.
