This fascinating video shows what developmental psychologists call a “scale error.”

As toddlers develop a conceptual understanding of size, it’s not uncommon to see them earnestly attempt to utilize miniature objects without consideration of the fact they are (sometimes comically) tiny.

This little one knows the function of a chair, but fails to identify this one as too small to sit in.

Scale errors are unique to this period of development. Younger children may not yet possess knowledge of the item in question or the motor skills required to utilize it - while older children possess an awareness of size that helps to inhibit such futile actions. (Older children may attempt them, but typically with humor in mind. 😀)

So interesting to watch.

@Currys_irl The matter has been referred to the CPCC, they have reported it to their safety division. Customer Rights have informed me of my rights. Next step I will send a formal letter and if not resolved within ten days of receipt I will be going to small claims court.

@Currys_irl They have not advised anything, they aren't adhering to legislation. I am entitled to a refund, repair or replacement.

@Currys_irl I am not required to source an engineer and provide a report. It is a dangerous and faulty appliance that is not fit for purpose. The Sales of Goods and Services Act is clear on my rights to a refund, repair or replacement, this supercedes any policies your company has as it law.

@Currys_irl Yes they replied saying as out of warranty no redress and I had to pay for a third party engineer to assess it if I wanted, which isn't legal under Sale of Goods and Services Act I am clearly entitled to a repair/refund/replacement. I have reported this to Consumer Rights
