@PhilMcGrawGamer@SK10Addy@magatsuizanyagi I did play the game. Everybody knows that the parry/dodge/jump trivializes any strategy component unless you actively go out of your way to do a non-parry build.
@PhilMcGrawGamer@SK10Addy@magatsuizanyagi No you don't. Objectively speaking every attack in the game that does damage to you can either be parried, dodged or jumped over.
All the player has to do is understand the timings. Then just do whatever your largest attacks are on your turn.
@PhilMcGrawGamer@SK10Addy@magatsuizanyagi And if you're above average in reactionary commands like parrying/dodging then you'll *almost* never need to strategize in a genre that's supposed to be designed around strategy, and if you do it's the bare minimum.
Not all capcom games are piss easy and have enemies that wait to take their turns hitting you one by one, and despite what people want to say about it; even Onimusha 4 challenged the player more than this
Also this thread was about E33, i never said anything about onimusha anywhere in this thread
It's giving me whiplash considering by Onimusha 4 you would get whipped on normal mode by 8 different enemies at the same time and the game would give you no invincibility on your normal attacks you had to commit to
I never said parrying was the only thing the game has, I'm just saying its the main gimmick the game expects you to engage with, and it just so happens to be that the parry/dodge removes all sense of strategy because it really doesn't matter what happens between turns because you can always just parry/dodge whatever comes your way, you really have no reason to do anything else
It's absolutely true
Just because you can "choose" to do different builds or "choose" not to parry doesn't change anything.
The whole gameplay structure is designed around it, the game incentivizes you to parry.
I can "choose" to do a no hit run in Elden Ring.
I can "choose" to never level up, or heal etc.
Still doesn't change the fact that the game incentivizes and encorages you to play a certain way because it its core it expects you to
- level up
- get hit
- dodge roll, heal etc.
If you need to artificialize difficulty or depth by restraining yourself from the game's core mechanic then that means the mechanic in itself is bad, otherwise you would never feel the need to go out of your way to look for "depth" or "challenge" in various niche builds as a replacement for just the general standard gameplay the game expects you to follow.
@Wishluxian@magatsuizanyagi There's still no strategy involved. You just keep whacking them and parry at the right timing. You don't actually have to *think* about anything else in regards to rpg mechanics or your future turns because the enemies pose no threat as long as you can parry everything
@SK10Addy@magatsuizanyagi The difference is Elden Ring is an action rpg where mobility, movement, positioning and reactionary commands are bare minimum for the genre
Turn based games are centered around strategy. Giving you a parry button removes all need for said strategy making the game loop hollow
Just because there's builds doesn't change the fact that at it's core the game is still centered around you pressing a singular button at a timed animation.
What you're saying is the equivalent of a souls fan saying "what the game is too easy? just do a no hit with no armor then!!!"
@ldobbs27@illmaTic_z@darkwingbraizat@MightyKeef No it wouldn't. The corporations don't care about what a small minority of dudes on Twitter say. You're under the impression that PS/Sony is ran by a couple of dudes on twitter who have time to entertain chuds. They give out numbers when it's beneficial to them for shareholders.
@illmaTic_z@darkwingbraizat@ldobbs27@MightyKeef Idek what your point is. https://t.co/EBSKMsMeys
Yotei sold well and was a success for Playstation as a whole. The game sold faster than Tsushima despite tsushima's covid boost and it also resulted in more software sales over the year than in previous years.
@illmaTic_z@darkwingbraizat@ldobbs27@MightyKeef Because Sony isn't publishing sales numbers for every game they make on a consistent basis, that's not how that works lol it's not like there's a website where you can just look at the current real time sales number for a game as of June 3rd, 2026 at 1:30PM EST
