A question for @jk_rowling regarding the upcoming #HarryPotter TV series:
You’ve said, “It’s going to be incredible. I’m so happy with it,” which has understandably raised expectations among fans. However, the casting of Severus Snape has become a major point of concern, as it diverges from the character’s clearly established description in the original books.
Snape is repeatedly described as having a marble white face, sallow skin, a hooked nose, greasy black hair, and an overall gaunt, bat-like appearance—features that are closely tied to his presence, personality, and how other characters perceive and interact with him throughout the story. For many readers, this physicality is not incidental but integral to the character.
Given the strong backlash, widespread discussion, and the volume of reactions online, could you clarify your level of involvement in the casting process? You previously mentioned you were not directly involved and did not have the authority to make or change casting decisions. In that context, how should fans reconcile that with your strong endorsement of the series?
Many fans care deeply about fidelity to the source material—especially when it comes to characters as central and narratively significant as Snape—and would genuinely appreciate your perspective.
@HBO@wbd@caseybloys@StreamOnMax — this casting decision has left a significant portion of the fanbase feeling disconnected from what could have otherwise been a highly anticipated and faithful adaptation. It would be a wise move to #recastsnape if possible.
@noahweber00 Nah, Finley supported Nico’s decision and aided that terrorist in ruining the team. If Finley was truly “Dallas” he’d know how loyal the fans are and the strong connection they had with Luka.
I have never seen a film so hyped that has left me so confused as to how anyone else is watching it and not thinking it's a pile of shite. None of it works, there's no flow, the acting is crap, it's just embarrassing to watch.
@imbabytate FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN. It’s insane the amount of people online I’m seeing that are convinced him and Selena Gomez have been replaced by clones or some dumb shit like that.
You cannot argue with MAGA. They demand evidence, then call your sources biased. You provide primary sources, they claim they're doctored. You show them video, they say it's out of context. You give them context, they say you're cherry-picking. This isn't debate. This is a systematic refusal to allow reality to intrude on mythology. You're not arguing facts. You're arguing whether facts exist.
