This is going to be difficult to write, and long — please take the time to read and understand.

We live in a, “flattened present”. No texture, no depth, and nothing pressing against us. Fredric Jameson called it the “weakening of historicity”.

Most of you just see me as an artist, but it’s more than that to me at the center of it all.

Humanity is facing a virus that we can’t see, and it’s called numbness.

We turn away from these things because discomfort feels unproductive to the human mind, and it has always been that way for as long as we have had consciousness.

That very action of, “looking away” or, “scrolling past” after a split second creates a numbness or callous in your brain, to continue on — because it either:

1. Isn’t happening to you.
-or-
2. It’s normalized.

And we’d be mistaken to say that it wasn’t made that way, by design of the people who create the chaos.

When you pair those things with war language, like the post that I am quoting, you get social confusion.

That looks something like this:

1. Speed > Verification
Headlines drop, fingers are pointed, an enemy is already picked. (Sound familiar?) Speed beats the truth every time and you’re forced to pick a side, It’s all binary — black or white. Team A or Team B.

2. Reaction > Reflection
You’re now locked into reaction mode. You suddenly lose grip, the window to reflect is minimized to almost zero. You’re shocked and think, “wait this is actually happening? This is crazy” — not left asking, “whose fault is it? Who allowed this? Why?” They’ve given an answer to you already.

3. Velocity > Facts
The system (media, politicians, platforms) protects itself by keeping everyone at top speed. Blame is assigned instantly, confident posts’ get the likes and posts’ while the factual ones get abandoned. This stage is different from speed>verification because it’s the act of keeping you at the velocity — rather than ramping it up.

You’re trained to move on quickly with key-words and I’ll explain the why and how:

War language is now a psychological tool, used to drive you with speed. The way a suburb full of civilians becomes “strategic”. Usage of words like, “targeted strike,” “escalation,” “stronghold” — Are all strategic vocabulary used to make them sound reputable and trustworthy, so why question it?

These are picked with knowledge, making you feel like it already happened and done with caution, so why care?

The worst part is — it works. They successfully compressed suffrage into their, “policy”.

War language doesn’t declare anything anymore, it accelerates mayhem. It’s used to warp facts before it even happens, spoken as if it has already happened.

As these are atrocious attacks on real life humans, it’s also an attack on time itself, and the humans living in it at this time — witnessing it, scrolling past it, ignoring it.

Ten years from now you will wonder how this happened, you’ll ask questions to yourself like, “how did this happen while I was alive? I didn’t even notice.”

This is what we, the witness, will be judged by when the present finally becomes the past.

It’s not about what you did, and it’s not about what you didn’t do — It’s about what you weren’t given the opportunity to do or understand.

They don’t allow you to understand by attacking you with language, this is why I, and other artists’ make these types of pieces — it’s not for the likes, or the popularity, or the credit.

It’s a protest for the present, leaving archaeological remains for the people of the future to understand as the chaos wipes the reports of language away.

We are attempting to interrupt patterns, to slow time down for the viewer to FEEL what they want you to be numbed by, what they want you to forget as they speed things up to be forgotten.

Because Witch Queen and The Final Shape are the only two good expansions they’ve made since Forsaken, they had some good seasons between those, but those didn’t last a year
