@mrB_R_W_N People who graffiti would do it to gorgeous buildings too. The idea that graffiti is a principled rejection of barren walls and not idiots looking to get publicity is a lie. 99% of graffiti is "tags" that look like crap and say nothing.
@elanor_the_red@jdflynn Do you never use words like stupid, moron, or idiot, which were originally used to refer to the disabled/retarded? Vicious use of language is a matter of circumstance and intent. There are no inherently evil words.
@jdflynn That form of rejection accomplishes nothing. Whatever is the polite or medical term for intellectual disability will become the new slur. A new term will be invented, slurified, ad infinitum, ad absurdum. It is little different from calling a heterosexual "gay", a man a "bitch.
@pulledbjjork "There is no reason to bring back what is dead."
Why is this a moral maxim to you? Where are you getting it from? This seems antithetical to Christian thought.
I obviously don't think you literally think life is a video game, but your view of this seems low-information, tbqh.
@pulledbjjork I find this attitude quite silly. All these things are being worked on. Life isn't an RTS game where we just maximize and optimize resources until a problem gets solved. If you'd asked people 80 years ago they might have said computer development is a waste of time and resources.
@pulledbjjork I don't view progress as a zero sum game. And if you're morally opposed to paleobiology and genetic exploration, what should the scientists and researchers be doing instead of this? Wouldn't anything they do be evil?
@pulledbjjork I genuinely don't understand your position. What moral principle is being violated?
"It's cool" is the reality that people want to do what hasn't been done, see what hasn't been seen. This is, within reason, a great drive that sends us forth into the hidden depths of Creation.
@pulledbjjork 1. You seem to have a blanket opposition to "reversing death". It obviously wouldn't be permissible to try and recreate a particular human via cloning, but these are animals.
2-4. Because it's cool as heck B)
@PumpkinPilled@pulledbjjork Sure, but I think saying that the God who Resurrected, defeated death, and calls us to New Life in the Spirit would oppose the *metaphorical* reversing of death for an extinct species is silly. This isn't necromancy.
@pulledbjjork You're being ridiculous if you honestly see no difference between necromancy, attempting to restore a particular thing to life with black magic, and man using his God-given capabilities to reverse the metaphorical death of an extant species. Do you oppose medical resuscitation?
