One nuance to this is that elder business leaders don't really understand the technology running their business. They may ask for magic to happen in a short period of time. The American tech worker is honest with them and tells them the true cost/timeline to create what they want. The Indian will lie to them and tell them what they want to hear. This is why they believe that Indians are "more skilled" because they believe the lies the Indians tell them.
@libsoftiktok@fortworthpd WTH is wrong with your department? This is getting embarrassing how many times I keep seeing my local PD demonstrating how pathetically trained these officers are on the most basic of rights.
@USLaborIG@VP@JDVance@DOLOIG@POTUS@WHFraudTF I'll give you a head start - ALL work visas are fraudulent. There is not any job that American citizens can't or won't do. The claim by any company that skilled Americans don't exist is in itself a fraudulent claim.
I used to screen every resume myself. I could tell in a couple of seconds if it was legit. HR decided that was too much work for me (it wasn't) and they started doing the filtering themselves. They would only send me resumes that were a fake copy/paste of the job description. I never got another decent resume after that.
I am 'middle' Gen X. I have tried to explain to these people that the job market now is not the same as when we were young. Back then, I could go out and find a job TODAY. It may not be the job I wanted, but it was a foot in the door and I could work my way up. That world doesn't exist anymore.
Every generation gets called 'lazy' by the previous ones, but there was at least an opportunity available if you were ambitious enough to try. Not so much these days.
@PressSec The whole premise of the program is fraud. There are no jobs that American citizens can't or won't do so even an application for an H-1B is fraud.
This seems unfathomable to me. McConnell wasn't capable of having a coherent 20 minute conversation about these things BEFORE all of this happened.
If he was able to have any kind of substantive conversation AT ALL, why wouldn't we see and/or hear it ourselves? "Proof of Life" ought to be a requirement for a sitting Senator.
I spoke to my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. He’s still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history. I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible.
What is the average age of a senior in high school when they graduate? What is the average age of a freshman in that same high school?
Doesn't make it right or smart, but teenagers are not known for their wisdom. High school classmates making poor decisions is not the same thing as you are implying.
While I will never argue against cutting regulations, I don't believe we really have a supply problem.
Our problem is that so much of our existing housing is occupied by people that shouldn't even be in this country. If we stop all of the visa fraud and mass deport illegals, there would be plenty of housing available and affordable.
When you're in a hole, stop digging.
While some of that may be true, it is not relevant in this context. When I was young, I could go out and find a job that same day. It may not be a job that I want, but I could find one and work my way up. That is not true today.
Everything is downstream from immigration. The low end jobs are given to illegals and the white collar jobs are given to foreign visa and green card labor. No matter how hard you try, very few beat the ethnic nepotism.
