If there where to be a Federal case brought in the #LAmayoral race, it would require an agreement that federally protected voting rights were violated.
In a purely municipal contest, #DOJ’s jurisdiction turns on federal civil‑rights and conspiracy statutes and Voting Rights Act provisions, as well as general conspiracy statutes.
If anyone deprives voters of their federally protected right to vote e.g., by discarding ballots, blocking eligible voters, or coordinating lies and document destruction, that opens the door to a federal case.
