Today I played very famous ChessinShanghai event 😄😄
I really enjoy the event, and like the people here, kind polite and discuss chess and life together
It's also happy to meet old friends and make new friends here🥳🥳
In Round 8 of @ReykjavikOpen , I was able to find a very aesthetically pleasing tactical combination! White has just played Nf2. Black to play and win! #chess
very excited that such a grand tournament will be held in Hong Kong! Means I will also have chance to play and meet strong players around the world 😆😆 welcome guys 🎊🎊

Our Board 1 is back on board!
Don’t miss the FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Team Championships 2026 in Hong Kong, June 17–21.
Welcome back, @MagnusCarlsen.
And yes - Board 2 will be @FabianoCaruana.
@Vachier_Lagrave joins the lineup as well and our women’s boards remain unchanged with Alexandra Kosteniuk @chessqueen and the number 1 in the women’s section Hou Yifan @houyifan0227.
Our captain remains the best coach on the planet, the bundescoach @GMJanGustafsson
Bringing the world’s strongest players together and giving chess the stage it deserves has always been central to my work. Proud we made this possible.
PS: Let’s see if Magnus adds World Championship titles #23 and #24 to his historic legacy. @chesscom
1...Kg7 loses due to very thematic idea for rook endgames - 2. Ra4! with the idea to get Rf4 , a4 set-up, following by king march, by the way, the only winning idea! Of course 2...Rb2 would run into 3.Rg4, following up by 4.a4. By elimination process Black should choose 1...f5! out of this two moves.
One of my long-standing goals has been to expand global team chess and create more opportunities, especially for young talents, to participate in top international events.
It is encouraging to see how the Rapid & Blitz team format continues to grow worldwide, including the Asian Rapid Team Championship in Hong Kong, inspired by the success of our event in Düsseldorf back in 2023. This shows that chess develops best when we create inclusive platforms for players, federations and partners across all regions.
This June, Hong Kong will host the World Rapid & Blitz Team Championship - now firmly established as one of the strongest and most dynamic team events on the international chess calendar.
I encourage federations, clubs, sponsors and players to follow the FIDE calendar, build teams and take part in this global momentum for chess.
WR Chess Team will proudly participate and we look forward to strong competition across the board.
