@AdzjoMK@sarah__british I don't even know what your point is, all it seems to me is you don't like how it works which if you go back to my original point, I said it won't change so don't waste your time arguing about it
@AdzjoMK@sarah__british It really doesn't, that's just your interpretation, you vote for an MP to represent your interests most represent a party which sets out its policies, each party has a leader but (as we well know) the leader can change at anytime.
@AdzjoMK@sarah__british Andy Burnham just has been elected in a by-election where everyone knew he would be challenging for the Labour leadership so your post makes no sense
@AdzjoMK@sarah__british What are you on about there is no legal or constitutional process regarding a mandate, you do realise for example that a party doesn't have to have a manifesto.
@AdzjoMK@sarah__british Isn't this what we are seeing... MP → elected by voters (general election or by-election)
Parliament → formed from all MPs
Majority → determines who forms government
Government → PM comes from that majority
@AdzjoMK@sarah__british A manifesto is a set of goals and values that a party set about during an election however there is nothing to stop a party changing a pledge or creating a new one based on circumstances, this is usually the case in all parliaments for example this time no one saw the Iran war...
@AdzjoMK If you believe that an MP should only be PM if they were elected whilst leader of the party what would happen at a General Election if a party won a majority but their leader lost their seat? Would you advocate a new General Election or would it be okay for another MP to be PM?
@AdzjoMK It's irrelevant how different you think it is, there is no constitutional way to evoke a general election other than a vote of no confidence in the HoP which won't be successful due to the Labour majority. I do have a question for you though....
@GazzaFox1980@reformparty_uk Because they are expensive for parties and the country and there is no constitutional reason to have one and no way to force one so no point banging on about it
@AdzjoMK That's a lot of info that changes nothing about what I have said, if a party wasn't it changed they need to do it when they are in Government but hundred of years and none of them have. Bang on about it as much as you like but you are wasting your breath the rules are the rules
@AdzjoMK It's not just changes in PMs though is it, it is anyone changing parties as well, everyone calling for these things is wasting their breath as no side ever does it
