I really like Warsong's idea of being able to hire mercs to populate the field. A lot of SRPGs make it bad to lose anyone, and allowing a bunch of disposable units changes things. It's just that high enemy defense commanders have very few solutions other than "high atk".(4/4)
And credit roll on...Warsong. More of a bucket list choice. I originally played it on Genesis as a kid and never beat it without using the level select. Now I have.
I don't think Warsong is a great game, but it has a lot of interesting ideas.(1/4)
I think that's why I never did it as a kid. Warsong requires you to be greedy with xp. Kill everything, feed kills to the weak, and level units as fast as possible to stay ahead of the difficulty curve. If you do, the game's actually kind of easy.(3/4).
Witch on the Holy Night feels like it was made with a sequel in mind, that I guess never happened. It's also odd in that it actually only has one route, and that it feels like a rough draft for Tsukihime/fate despite being newer. Still enjoyed it.(2/2)
Staying on the Type Moon train, and with the movie later this year, finished Witch on the Holy Night. It's good, though it's surprising how little action there is in it. And when you add in all the extra stuff, it feels like the author was more interested in slice of life.(1/2)
@HoegLaw The inverse doesn't need to be true. "Beyond a reasonable doubt" is in itself an unfair standard for the government. It's never been an even fight.
Credit roll on Tsukihime Remake. Liked it. Main complaint is that it feels like half a game(obviously). It's clear that there's half a game that you just can't access. Hopefully we get it at some point.
Despite not being all that great, it was an interesting idea and there's enough fun ideas like building and climbing a giant burger. I recommend for those looking for something interesting over something amazing. 3/3
Credit roll on DK Bananza. It got better as it went along, but my overall opinion didn't change: Big idea that didn't quite work in reality. Smashing almost everything gives so much freedom they have to take a bunch away with lots of unsmashable terrain. 1/3
Enemies in Bananza are annoying. There's too many enemies that you have to defeat with an environmental gimmick. Relying on transformations for traversal when you have to fill a meter is annoying. That said, it does have the fun level design you'd expect in a Nintendo game. 2/3
I will need to figure out what to do about Denuvo. Deal with it on PC? Go PS5 for those games only? High Seas? Don't know yet.
I also think I need to look into a dedicated PC box for under the TV. A Steam machine, but better than Valve's.
The PS5 physical disc news is a disappointment as I've never trusted Sony too much on digital. I expect it to mostly fuel my transition to Steam(I do trust Valve on digital, as much as you can anybody). I expect my PS5 to turn into an exclusives machine like my Switch 2.
Considering the expected price of the PS6 and that it will probably be an exclusives machine, and the quality of a lot of recent Sony games, I don't really expect to get one anymore.
I've been playing DK Bananza on my new Switch 2 and it's...alright? I'm only at sublayer 302, but it feels like a game that had a big idea that wasn't as fun in reality as on the drawing board, but the devs powered through and made something ok.
I pulled the trigger on a Switch 2 due to the impending price hike and the eshop deal. I paid $510 for $600 in eshop credit which gets me the system, a copy of DK Bananza, and still leaves enough eshop credit to almost get another game. Not bad.
