@Jamesh1621760 @JeetyJeeterson @aakashgupta Well, the winner pays no taxes *in the UK*, the taxes are paid in the USA before the money leaves. So the UK exchequer gets nothing. I believe that the UK prize amount is advertised net of those deductions, so the advertised amount is what they receive.

@odowdjb @daraobriain No, the apostrophe is the ‘closest match’ on a regular keyboard, and was intended to anglicise Irish names. A fada extends the vowel, whereas an apostrophe tends to clip or shorten the sound, so it should be more like “Oh Briain” rather than “O Briain”

@AvantiWestCoast how come it’s over £250 to get a return from the north west to London Euston for any reasonable time on your trains, when it’s only £130 to FLY, or to drive down and park overnight is about £70 fuel + £44 parking? What exactly is the point of taking your trains?
