Social Security is funded by payroll (FICA/SECA) taxes. This tax rate was not affected by any Republican tax cuts.

If anything you can blame a temporary tax cut for Social Security beneficiaries in the OBBB, or you can blame the 2025 Social Security Fairness Act which increased benefits for public sector workers who can now get a government pension and social security benefits (which you voted for).

In the end Social Security is failing because it is a ponzi scheme. Current workers are paying for current retirees. For a while we've had a trust fund to make up the difference, but that trust fund is is running out because the ratio of workers:retirees is not in its favor. It will soon go down on the very long list of failed government programs.

Socialists praise the worker who creates value through labor, right up until that labor produces enough value for him to stop being just a worker.

The moment he becomes an owner, investor, entrepreneur, or employer, the product of his labor is suddenly no longer fully his.

Apparently owning the product of your labor is virtuous only as long as it doesn't lead to success.

The real question is: compared to what?

Every society started poor. The wealthiest societies emerged where property rights, trade, and markets were strongest. The poorest societies emerged where they were weakest.
